The Elmhurst Lions Club may be awarding a scholarship this year to a graduating high school senior residing in Elmhurst (even if you attend a school in another city) with a 3.0 GPA or higher of his/her class. This scholarship may be applied towards any post-secondary educational program including, but not limited to, 2- or 4-year colleges, vocational or technical programs.
The Elmhurst Lions Club may also award a Community Service Award to an Elmhurst High School senior. This award is presented based on the student's community service. Academic performance is not considered.

ELMHURST LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
NUMBER, VALUE AND ELIGIBILITY There may be one scholarship of $1,500 awarded this year to a graduating high school senior residing in Elmhurst (even if you attend a school in another city) with a 3.0 GPA or higher of his/her class. This scholarship may be applied towards any post-secondary educational program including, but not limited to, 2- or 4-year colleges, vocational or technical programs.
CRITERIA The applicant shall have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants with community service and which have demonstrated the ability to overcome personal obstacles will be given first consideration. Financial need will also be considered.
SELECTION PROCESS Copies of our criteria and applications may be found on the websites of the high schools. Application forms are also available by contacting the scholarship chairperson. Application forms filled out by these candidates, accompanied by an official transcript and support letters from school staff, clergymen, volunteer coordinators, etc. should be sent, preferably by email to scholarship@elmhurstlions.org, or to the address below and must be postmarked by MARCH 1st of the current year.
PAYMENT PROCEDURES The scholarship payment shall be made in one installment of $1,500. It is understood that no part of this award shall be used to diminish any other financial aid for which the student is found to be eligible. A payment cannot be postponed beyond the designated school year without the approval of the board of directors.

ELMHURST LIONS CLUB COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD
NUMBER AND VALUE
There may be one Community Service Award of $500 awarded this year to a high school student who has demonstrated a commitment to community service over a period of several years.
ELIGIBILITY
Any high school student residing in the City of Elmhurst, Illinois, is eligible even if he/she attends a high school in another city. All completed application forms will be considered for the award as one group and the applicant best meeting the criteria shall be selected.
CRITERIA
The applicant shall show evidence of community service/volunteerism for which no pay has been received. Involvement can be limited to one activity or a variety of different activities. Include written recommendations from supervisors or certificates of participation for service activities cited in your application. Do not include activities for which school credit or any other form of compensation is received. Service may be personal – helping a neighbor, communal – cleaning up a trash dump; or national – aiding victims of natural disasters.
SELECTION PROCESS

The Elmhurst Lions Club awarded a $1500 scholarship this year to Anna Marie Reinhofer. Anna Marie is a recent York High School graduate. Anna Marie, her Parents Maria and Joe received the award at the Lions Club Installation Dinner held at River Forest Country Club on June 9th. Anna Marie not only showed a great commitment to her school, but also found the time for volunteering within the community, including being a member of the Leo club for several years. Anna Marie plans on attending Boston University in the Fall.
The Elmhurst Lions Club awarded a $500 Community Service Award to Alexandra Howell, also a recent York High School Graduate. During her time at York, Alex was very active in Relay for Life, she became involved in junior high, and stayed commited throughout high school, where she was Co-Captain for two years and initiated fundraising events. Alex also participated in GWC- Group Work Camp, (similar to Habitat for Humanities), where she traveled throughout the United States to help rebuild homes.
